Responsibilities and Expectations

Strategic Leadership

Board members are responsible for guiding Indy Pride’s long-term vision and ensuring the organization remains mission-driven, financially sound, and future-focused. This includes setting strategic priorities, supporting sustainable growth, and stewarding Pride’s legacy for the next generation.

Accountable Governance

The Board upholds strong governance practices by following bylaws, policies, and ethical standards. Members are expected to prepare for and actively participate in meetings, exercise independent judgment, and help ensure transparency, compliance, and responsible decision-making.

Financial Stewardship

Board members share responsibility for Indy Pride’s financial health. This includes approving budgets, monitoring financial performance, supporting fundraising efforts, and helping ensure the organization has the resources needed to deliver joyful, accessible, and impactful programming.

Community Engagement

Serving on the Board means showing up for the community. Members act as ambassadors for Indy Pride—listening, building relationships, and representing the organization with care and integrity. Board members help strengthen trust, expand partnerships, and invite broader community participation in Pride’s work.
