Feeding Joy: A New Food Access Program
We’re proud to introduce Feeding Joy, Indy Pride’s new food access program created in response to the growing food insecurity facing LGBTQ+ Hoosiers and our neighbors across Central Indiana. At Indy Pride, we believe food access is about more than canned goods—it’s about dignity, equity, and ensuring everyone has access to safe, healthy, nutritious food. Feeding Joy is one way we’re turning care into action.
Through this program, eligible community members can receive free monthly food boxes distributed via a drive-through pickup model after submitting and being approved through an application form. The application will open on September 1, 2025, and will be linked here. We encourage you to bookmark this page and check back to apply.
Feeding Joy is made possible through a generous one-year grant supporting food access in Central Indiana. This funding allows us to provide a limited number of boxes each month as we work to grow the program and serve more households over time.
Community support plays a vital role in sustaining Feeding Joy. We collect unexpired pull-tab canned goods at all Indy Pride events, including our Monthly Season Planning Committee meetings on the third Tuesday of each month. We also host twice-monthly drop-off hours on the first and third Mondays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
If you represent a local organization or business that serves our community, we’d love to connect. We’re building partnerships to ensure Feeding Joy reaches those who need it most—together.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of food can I expect in my grocery box?
Each box includes a selection of shelf-stable canned and boxed goods. Items are packed with care and take into account the dietary needs and allergies you share in your application.
When and how will I receive my grocery box?
Approved participants will receive details about a scheduled drive-through pickup. If you indicate that you need delivery, our team will contact you directly to coordinate timing.
Can I request meat in my grocery box?
Due to limited refrigerated storage, we cannot provide raw meat. Some boxes may include shelf-stable items containing meat, such as canned soups or tuna, unless you indicate vegetarian or vegan dietary preferences.
I live just outside the delivery area. Can I still request delivery?
In some cases, we may be able to arrange delivery just outside the I-465 loop. If you’d like to explore this option, please contact us:
